Eine Veranstaltung im Rahmen des Projekts „Refugees & Queers“.
Wir laden euch herzlich ein zum 2. Vernetzungstreffen des Jahres, das am 09.11.2018 in der Musik- und Singschule, Kirchstraße 2, 69115 Heidelberg stattfinden wird. Für diese Veranstaltung kooperiert das Projekt „Refugees and Queers“ der Bundesstiftung Magnus Hirschfeld (gefördert von der Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung) mit PLUS Rhein-Neckar e.V. und dem LSBTIQ*-Beauftragten der Stadt Heidelberg.
Das Vernetzungstreffen ist Teil der „Trans*Aktionswochen Rhein-Neckar“ und wird sich dem Thema „Nicht-normative Gender Identitäten und Migration/Flucht/Asyl in Deutschland“ widmen.
Wenn es um die Belange von LSBTIQ*-Geflüchteten und Migrant_innen in Deutschland geht, wird die sexuelle Orientierung in der Regel als Ausgangspunkt genommen. Sexuelle Orientierung hat sich zum Mittelpunkt von Diskussionen, Politik und Repräsentationen von LSBTIQ*-Geflüchteten entwickelt und wird damit oft synonym zu schwulen cis Männern verwendet, um die sich das Dienstleistungsangebot, (Medien)repräsentation und auch Strategieplanung überdurchschnittlich häufig dreht. Daher wollen wir bewusst den Fokus von sexueller Orientierung auf Gender Identitäten verschieben und deren Verschränkung mit Flucht-/Migrations- und Rassismuserfahrungen, sowie mit sexueller Orientierung, betrachten.
Das Vernetzungstreffen möchte sowohl eine diverse Gruppe an Personen aus der nicht-binären und LFTI* Community zusammenbringen, die Migration-/Flucht-/Asyl- Erfahrungen haben, als auch Personen aus dem Aktivismus, der Bildungsarbeit, der Sozialen Arbeit und der NGO-Landschaft in Deutschland. Unser Ziel ist es zu beleuchten, wie Gender-Identitäten marginalisiert werden. Dies zeigt sich insbesondere in der Wissensproduktion zu und in der Arbeit mit geflüchteten und migrierten LSBTIQ*-Personen, in denen Gender-Identität häufig als Nebensache betrachtet wird.
Bei dem Vernetzungstreffen werden wir uns verschiedenen Fragen zu Gender Identitäten widmen, anschließend an folgende Überlegungen:
- Welche Dienstleistungsangebote gibt es bereits für LFTI* und nicht-binäre Personen im Bereich Migration/Flucht/Asyl? Was sollte geändert oder verbessert werden? Welche Art von Arbeit muss überhaupt erst noch eingeführt/etabliert werden?
- Welche Diskriminierungserfahrungen, basierend auf Gender-Identität, machen LFTI* und nicht-binäre Personen? Welche Unterstützungs- und Dienstleistungsangebote gibt es bereits und welche fehlen noch, sowohl im Asylsystem, in der medizinischen Versorgung oder anderen Institutionen?
- Wie können LSBTIQ*-Organisationen, besonders diejenigen, die mit Geflüchteten und Migrant_innen zusammenarbeiten, strukturell (trans*)Gender-Identitäten besser in ihre Arbeit und ihre politischen Visionen inkludieren? Welche Beispiele von “good practice” gibt es in Deutschland?
Das vollständige Programm mit den Namen aller Referent_innen und Podiumsteilnehmer_innen wird kurz vor der Veranstaltung verschickt. Der Veranstaltungsort ist barrierefrei und das Catering für die Mittagspause wird vegetarisch/vegan sein.

Bitte beachtet, dass die Anzahl der Plätze begrenzt ist und ein Drittel der Plätze für LSBTIQ*-Geflüchtete/Migrant_innen reserviert ist, insbesondere für trans*-, intersexuelle und nicht-binäre Geflüchtete/Migrant_innen. Abhängig von der Anzahl der Anmeldungen wird ein Teil dieser Plätze kurz vor der Veranstaltung noch für alle freigegeben. Für die Anmeldung ist es erforderlich, dass das Anmeldeformular ausgefüllt wird. Finale Zu/Absagen werden nach Ablauf der Anmeldefrist verschickt.

We kindly invite you to our second networking event of this year, which will take place on the 9th of November, 2018 at Musik- und Singschule, Kirchstraße 2, 69115 Heidelberg, organized by the project “Refugees & Queers” of the Bundesstiftung Magnus Hirschfeld (funded by the Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung) in cooperation with PLUS Rhein-Neckar e.V. and the LGBTIQ*-Commissioner of the City of Heidelberg.
This second networking event is part of the trans*Aktionswochen Rhein-Neckar and will focus on the topic of “Non-normative Gender Identities and Migration/Flight/Asylum in Germany”
When it comes to discussing issues relating to LGBTIQ*-refugees and migrants in Germany, sexual orientation is always taken as the starting point. Sexual orientation has slowly dominated discussions, politics, and representations of LGBTIQ*-refugees that it has almost become synonymous with gay cis-men, around whom much service provision, (media) representation, and policy-making still revolves. Therefore, in this upcoming networking event, we would like to shift the emphasis from sexual orientation to gender identity as the starting point, not in isolation, but in its intersectionality with experiences of flight, migration, racism, and sexual orientation, among other identities. The networking event shall bring together a diverse group of people from the LBTI and non-binary communities both with migration/flight/asylum histories and from the larger activist, education, social work, and NGO landscape in Germany. The aim is to shed light on the conditions under which gender identity becomes marginalized and treated as a secondary identity to sexual orientation in the work with and knowledge production being done on LGBTIQ*-people at the intersection of flight/migration/asylum. At the networking event, we will focus on many questions relating to gender identity, including, but not limited to:
- What type of work is being done with LBTIs and non-binary people in the context of migration/flight/asylum, and what needs to be changed, done better, or completely introduced into the existing structures?
- What experiences of gender-based discrimination/exclusion do they make and what types of support, services, and help exist, are provided, or are still lacking, whether in the asylum system, medical establishment, or other institutions?
- How can LGBTIQ*-organizations, especially those working with migrants/refugees, become more structurally-inclusive of (trans)gender identity in their work, employment schemes, and political visions? And what examples of good practice are there in Germany?
A complete program with the names of the speakers and panelists will be sent shortly before the event. The networking event venue is wheelchair accessible, and the catering for the lunch break will be vegetarian and vegan.

Please note that the number of places is limited and a third of the places will be allocated for LGBTIQ*-refugees/migrants in general, but specifically for trans*, intersex, and non-binary refugees/migrants. Depending on the number of registrations, these spaces will be made available to others only shortly before the event. The only acceptable way to register for the event is by filling out the registration form.
